list of web hosts

Posted by EuropeanRat - 2 hours ago

hehe, why not. contains everything i used

(will update soon for more!! hehe)

  • tiiny.host - upload a website as a zip. yet it blocks non-gmail or non-outlook email. limits the visitors and adds an annoying "Shared with tiiny.host" banner at the bottom. you can't edit anything, you'll need to upload a new zip file for that. also it will be indexed on google. luckily it has good support (thanks phil)

  • w3spaces - you can edit everything there, yet it has a small size limit, and when viewing gives a full-screen slpash screen "Note: This Site is User-Created". also has a random AI bot that uses coins. you can't create the files you would really want, it only allows a few (html, css, js, some more but not much). it sucks

  • neocities - a good choise, i guess. has a html editor where you can't switch files, you'll have to exit it to go to that. no CORS, means that you can't really load some javascript from another site. also it will remove file extensions when viewing (meaning that yoursite.neocities.org/folder/thing.html will be yoursite.neocities.org/folder/thing.html)

  • nekoweb - inspired from neocities, is way better, just check it out i guess

So, erm... I thought to myself ""inspired from neocities, is way better" isn't much of an informative sentence, but I'll have a look, just for fun".

Nekoweb.org features a "desktop pet" that I genuinely used - back when people still had to ride to work on their mammoths.

Thank you for sharing that link! :3

yeah i'm not finished yet, i couldnt think of more ;-;

@EuropeanRat Personally, I think it's better to list the services you can recommend 'with confidence' rather than try to create an endless list of choices.
And in the end, the websites amateurs create on their own are going to look like _dumpster_fires_ anyway. There is only so much you can do as an individual. ;)
